Downtown Las Vegas

Pest control in downtown Las Vegas

Downtown is where Las Vegas started, with the townsite lots sold in 1905, and the blocks around South 7th Street still show it. Older homes converted into offices sit beside apartment buildings, condo towers, restaurants and the courts. Buildings are close together, alleys carry the dumpsters and grease bins, and a lot of properties share walls, roofs or utility runs with the one next door. Pest problems here rarely belong to one address on its own.

German cockroaches are the main indoor pest in this kind of mixed block. They live in warm, tight spaces near food and water and spread through shared plumbing and wall voids, which is why a kitchen that is clean can still have them. Pigeons roost and nest on ledges, signs, parking structures and rooftop equipment. Bed bugs turn up in multi-unit housing and anywhere people stay for a short time. Rodents work the alleys at night, and American cockroaches come up from sewers and storm drains in summer.

For a downtown property the inspection follows the route pests actually use: alley doors, dumpster placement, grease and waste storage, roof access, shared walls and the plumbing chases between units. For a business you get a written record of what was found and what was done. For a home or apartment we will tell you plainly whether the neighbors need to be part of the plan.

7th Street questions

Do you take commercial accounts downtown, such as restaurants and offices?

Yes. Commercial work includes a record of each visit, what was found and what was done, which is what a health inspector asks to see. Tell us the type of premises when you call so the visits and reporting are set up correctly from the start.

Pigeons are nesting on our building. What actually stops them?

Proofing. Nests and droppings are cleared and the ledge, sign or roof space is then changed with netting, spikes or exclusion so it can no longer be used. Clearing a ledge without changing it just makes room for the next birds.

We found bed bugs in a downtown apartment. Should the neighbors be checked?

Usually, yes. Bed bugs move between units through wall voids and along pipes and wiring, so the units on either side and above or below are worth inspecting. We will explain what the inspection involves for your building.

Can a visit be planned around our business hours?

Tell us your opening hours and any restrictions when you call, such as a kitchen that cannot be treated during service, and the visit will be planned around them where possible.
