Pest control for the commercial blocks between I-15 and the Strip

Westwood Drive is part of a narrow working district in unincorporated Clark County. It lies between Interstate 15 and the resort corridor, and the streets around it, including Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and Highland Drive, are lined with warehouses, auto and trade shops, showrooms, food suppliers and offices, with apartment complexes and hotels a short drive away. Pest work here is often for a business rather than a house: a loading dock, a kitchen, a storage unit or a shop floor, where one problem can affect stock, staff and customers.

Those properties draw pests that follow food, water and shelter. German cockroaches live indoors in commercial kitchens, break rooms and the wall voids of shared buildings, and they travel in on deliveries and cardboard. Turkestan cockroaches, now the common outdoor roach across the valley, move in from drains, meter boxes and irrigation valves. Roof rats and house mice use stored goods, pallets and gaps under roll up doors. Pigeons roost on flat roofs, parapets, signs and the ledges above loading bays. Wherever many people sleep in rented or shared rooms, bed bugs can arrive in luggage and spread from room to room.

The Las Vegas valley is hot and dry, with summer days that regularly pass 105 degrees and only a few inches of rain a year, so pests concentrate wherever there is water and shade, and the July to September monsoon storms can push ants and termite swarmers into the open. An inspection here looks at the outside first: dock doors and their seals, roof access and parapets, drains, dumpster areas, slab edges and pipe penetrations. Then it moves inside to kitchens, storage and shared walls. You are told what was found and what the treatment would involve before anything is applied, and for a business it can be planned around opening hours.

Westwood Drive questions

We run a warehouse near Westwood Drive. Can you treat without shutting the business down?

Usually, yes. Tell us how the building is used, when it is busiest and what is stored there when you call. The inspection and any treatment are planned around that, and you are told beforehand what will be applied and where.

We keep finding cockroaches in the break room. Is a spray enough?

Rarely on its own. German cockroaches hide in the gaps behind appliances, cabinets and wall voids and come back in on deliveries and boxes. Finding where they live and how they are getting in matters more than spraying what you can see.

Pigeons are nesting on our roof and sign. What can be done?

Pigeon control is proofing work. A survey finds which roofs, parapets, ledges and signs the birds are using, and then those surfaces are changed with netting, spikes, wire or by closing gaps, so the birds cannot settle there again. Removing birds and leaving the ledge as it was only makes room for the next ones.

Should I call the Westwood Drive office or the 7th Street office?

Either. The 7th Street office downtown is the nearest other PJ Mac office, about three miles to the northeast. Call the Westwood Drive team on (725) 302-8349, or the 7th Street team on (725) 269-1178 if that one is closer to you.
